Massage Therapy General Information
Catalyst Sports Medicine employs certified and licensed massage therapists offering a variety of therapeutic massage services including sports, Swedish, deep tissue, and orthopedic massage. All services are provided at our physical therapy clinic with options to off-site chair massage for local businesses or organizations that want to incorporate massage into their health and wellness concepts.
All of the massage styles should feel soothing and relaxing however the deep tissue and orthopedic methods are designed to address unhealthy tissue that is inherently more sensitive to pressure. The therapists at Catalyst Sports Medicine work hard to customize your session to maximize the results your body requires. A short discussion before your session will allow the therapist to design the right session that fits your needs for that day.
The massage sessions can be scheduled for different lengths of time ranging from 15, 30, 60 or 90 minute segments. Packages are available at reduced rate as well as occasional specials throughout the year providing discounts.
One hour regular rate is $90.00. Senior citizen (age 62 or older) or student one hour rate is $65.00. Prepaid massage sessions do not have an expiration date and can be shared with others that would be billed at the same rate. Options are available for some using their HSA or FSA accounts; consult with your human resource department on specific regulations.
Massage Therapy Services
Sports massage is designed for athletes looking for muscle recovery after training sessions or competitions. It can also be used to prepare muscles for activity prior to training or competition. Many athletes will incorporate sports massage into a regular routine for maintenance purposes keeping the muscles and other soft tissue in peak performance.
Swedish massage is used for general relaxation purposes usually incorporating the full body. The therapist will predominantly use gliding and kneading massage techniques with oils allowing for a smooth and relaxing experience.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage incorporates several different massage techniques allowing the therapist to address issues with the muscles including releasing of trigger points. The techniques are designed to access deeper layer muscles and will typically include some gentle stretching to enhance the benefits of massage.
Orthopedic massage focuses on maladies or pathologies of soft tissue. The therapist will assess range of motion before and after the session with the goal being to increase mobility and decrease pain. The therapist will work with the biomechanics to restore the normal function of the muscles and can also result in improved posture. This style of massage is highly advanced with the therapist using a strong understanding of human anatomy and proper muscle function.
